Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić says the uncertainty surrounding the future of Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is definitely a worry ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Modric, 32, one the most decorated footballers in Croatian football history, has been charged with perjury and could face up to five years in prison if found guilty.

The charges surrounding the 103-time capped Vatreni midfielder revolves around his alleged testimony in court over the trial of former Dinamo Zagreb director Zdravko Mamic and the alleged embezzlement of up to €15 million from his transfer to Tottenham in 2008.

The Real Madrid star has been accused in court for changing his original testimony in favour of the Mamic.

"I can't intervene in what is happening, but yes, it's worrying me," Dalic told reporters, as quoted by AS. "Knowing Luka as I do, I'm sure that he'll take responsibility for this and will be available when he is needed."

Modric has been an ever-present figure for Los Blancos since his arrival from Spurs six seasons ago, featuring 244 times for the LaLiga giants.
