Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza has announced a new Reserve League tournament will start on April 7 and run for four weeks.
Khoza said the move comes in response to complaints that the MultiChoice Diski Challenge only entails 15 fixtures in a season when there are 16 clubs in the event.
Golden Arrows recently claimed their second MDC title in three years.
The new competition has been dubbed the MultiChoice Diski Shield.
Khoza said: "Clubs in the PSL were complaining that 'we are only playing 15 games, can't we play 30 games?'.
"But we said we can't demand from MultiChoice because they make sure that they fly to games. They are not driving.
"If you look at the Under-21 league in England, they are travelling from all over the place in the country.
"We have equalled that standard in the PSL to motivate the players."
