Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids is pleading for the football fraternity to pray for Luyanda Ntshangase after the forward was hit by lightning on Thursday.
Ntshangase was rushed to hospital after being struck down when playing in a friendly match against an amateur side in Pietermaritzburg.
According to Davids, the 21-year-old was in ICU over the weekend.
"He is still in ICU," Davids said after his side's goalless draw with SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
"We are asking the whole football fraternity to please pray for him so he can make a speedy recovery."
Under the circumstances Davids felt his men did well to earn a point against Matsatsantsa, who parted ways with head coach Eric Tinkler the day before. Caretaker boss Kaitano Tembo oversaw the stalemate for the hosts in Tshwane.
"I am extremely proud of the players considering the rollercoaster they went through after Ntshangase was struck by lightning," Davids added.
"It's a huge situation we faced. We had to cancel the training session and I didn't know how to keep their emotions intact."
