Chris Wood ended Burnley’s 11-match winless run in the Premier League with a late goal to beat Everton 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Cenk Tosun’s first Everton goal had opened the scoring on 20 minutes, with the Turk heading in Seamus Coleman’s flick.

Jordan Pickford did brilliantly to stop Ashley Barnes’s header but could not prevent the Burnley forward from equalisng 11 minutes into the second half.

Barnes latched on to Matt Lowton’s superb pass to fire in and restore parity for the home side.

Wood, back from injury, came on at half-time and headed in Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner with 10 minutes remaining.

Everton’s hopes of a fightback were hit when Ashley Williams was shown a red card for violent conduct in the 86th minute.

A fifth successive away defeat keep Everton ninth ahead of the day’s matches.

Burnley move to within five points of sixth-placed Arsenal.
