Free State Stars came from behind to worsen the woes of Platinum Stars with a 2-1 victory in the Absa Premiership on Saturday night.
Time is ticking for Dikwena to beat the drop, and they were hoping for a kick start against Ea Lla Koto, who came up with the first effort on goal by Siphelele Mthembu, but Mbongenzi Mzimela was able to save.
Robert Ngambi, who returned to the line-up after missing the 2-1 loss to Maritzburg United, got the best out of Badra Ali Sangare who produced a stunning save from his thunderous effort.
The visitors replied with a header from Makhehlene Makhuala that sailed narrowly wide of goal before the midway point.
With four minutes to halftime, Dikwena went ahead from a corner through Gift Sithole who showed composure to display a finish any striker in the world would be proud of.
They were forced to make a change at the start of the second half, with Sibusisio Mthethwa going off injured and Willem Mwedihanga replacing him.
With their backs against the wall, expectantly came out in search for the equaliser but they struggled to break down Dikwena’s defence.
The closest they came to goal saw Maxine Cosse firing a disappointingly taken free-kick at Mzimela at the 61st minute mark.
The bottom-place outfit on the other end looked to extend their lead with Ngambi trying an acrobatic attempt that failed to find the target 10 minutes later.
It’s an opportunity that would cost them dearly as the visitors drew level nine minutes to the end through the head of Mohamed Anas.
Anas completed the comeback with a low drive that went through the legs of Mzimela from a cross to secure all three points.
