Orlando Pirates comprehensively defeated Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in the Absa Premiership to close the gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to four points.
The Buccaneers made a few surprising changes, with Siyabonga Mpontshane replacing Jackson Mabokgwane in goal and Xola Mlambo starting in midfield with Gladwin Shitolo.
They went on the attack early with a shot from range from Justin Shonga, while at the other end, Tshabalala broke through and fired a shot which was blocked by Happy Jele.
Chiefs soon went behind after a turnover of possession set up Thembinkosi Lorch to finish in the bottom corner after skipping past two defenders.
Bucs were wrongfully denied a second after Daniel Bennett mistakenly ruled for a foul on Daniel Cardoso by Shonga, who teed-up Bernard Morrison to score into an empty net, but only after the whistle had been blown.
Amakhosi drew level after 29 minutes through the head of Leonardo Castro from a Tshabalala free-kick.
Milutin Sredojevic decided to shake things up and included Luvuyo Memela at the start of the second half.
It proved to be an inspired substitution, with the striker needing his first touch of the game to control and a second to fire home after being set up by Musa Nyatama to put Bucs in the driving seat.
Castro found space in the box from a corner and got in a header which Mpontshane saved from close range.
Shonga then beat Siyabonga Ngezana to force Itumeleng Khune to a deflected the effort with his feet, before the follow-up from Ntsikelelo Nyauza went wide.
Memela looked for his brace from a free-kick outside the box but he, unfortunately, struck the upright after 59 minutes.
They eventually found the third with Memela running behind the defence to beat Khune at the near post with a tidy finish from a tight angle
The outwitted visitors were left with no reply, though they threatened late on with a shot from substitute Bernard Parker, but it was comfortably saved by Mpontshane.
The Sea Robbers handed a debut to new signing Augustine Mulenga, while Mthokozisi Dube looked to lob Khune, who came up with an impressive save two minutes from time as Bucs wrap the points.
