FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has revealed he rejected the advances of two European superpowers in order to fulfil his dream of representing the LaLiga leaders.
Dembele was heavily criticised in the off-season for trying to force a move away from Borussia Dortmund, but the 20-year-old did eventually get his wish, completing a £136m (R2.25b) transfer to the Blaugrana.
The France international revealed he had offers from Real Madrid and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain too, but after rejecting Barca once in favour of Dortmund, he couldn't refuse the second time around.
"I met [PSG president] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi]," he said, as quoted via KweseESPN. "We had set up a meeting. It went really well. He's a great president. "What struck me about him is that he is very humble, he's calm -- I had never seen that. Honestly, he's a good guy."
"I also had had a meeting with Barcelona. I had told them: 'For next season it's not possible, but the next time you contact me, I'll come,' and that is what happened."
