Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone feels Diego Costa's return to the LaLiga title chasers has revitalised the club's main attacking talisman.
Costa re-joined Atleti for a reported £60m (R987m) at the start of the new campaign after three seasons in the Premier League with Chelsea, but could only be registered at the end of the Spanish side's transfer ban in January this year.
However, his first 10 games has brought about five goals and four assists, while strike-partner Antoine Griezmann's form has considerably improved in recent weeks, with seven goals in his last two games.
Los Rojiblancos are now just five points behind unbeaten league leaders FC Barcelona, with 12 rounds of fixtures remaining in the Spanish top-flight.
"The season until December had been very good for the team," Simeone told a post-match news conference. "Costa's presence not only improved Griezmann's moment but that of the team.
"For his tenacity, courage and what he transmits to the team.
"Now to prepare the Barcelona match in the best way, against a rival who has never lost. It's a nice challenge."
