AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson agrees with Morgan Gould that Mamelodi Sundowns are the best team in Africa.
SuperSport United defender Gould applied the label to the 2016 CAF Champions League winners ahead of the 1-1 Tshwane derby at Lucas Moripe Stadium last weekend.
Usuthu tonight host Downs in Durban looking to complete a league double over the Absa Premiership leaders, having won the reverse tie 2-1 in October via goals from veteran hitmen Mabhuti Khenyeza and Siyabonga Nomvethe in Tshwane.
Johnson expects a stern test of his charges when the action kicks off at 18h00 at King Zwelithini Stadium.
“Sundowns is a quality team and that’s why we have to come with our A-game and make sure that we keep applying pressure for the full 90 minutes,” Johnson told his club's website.
“We have to stick to our game plan if we are to beat them. We want to make King Zwelithini Stadium a fortress and we are still building.
"It will be no different against Sundowns. We have to be mindful of Sundowns because they are a quality team. They are the best team in Africa at the moment,” the 59-year-old tactician added.
“They are number one in the league and for those reasons we need to give them respect. But at the same time we want to come out on Friday night and play the best we can.”
Johnson's side, who recently held Free State Stars to a goalless draw in Bethlehem, are 10th on the table with eight games left.
