Antoine Griezmann scored four goals to guide Atletico Madrid to a 4-0 win over Leganes in LaLiga on Wednesday evening.

Diego Costa nearly snatched the lead for Atletico in the second minute with a left-footed strike on the edge of the area but goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar made a good save.

Leganes almost went ahead in the 15th minute after Eraso went clear inside the box but he missed from six-yards out.

In the 26th minute, Antoine Griezmann punished the visitors with a lovely strike after being sent through in the middle of the box by Koke.

The Frenchman got his brace 10 minutes later with a sublime free-kick that found the top corner and double his side's lead.

Griezmann completed his hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half after Filipe Luis raided the left wing before finding the Frenchman, who rose the highest to guide a header past Cuellar, 3-0.

Griezmann got his fourth goal of the evening in the 68th minute with a first-time half-volley that wrong-footed Cuellar after a ball was floated into the area by Costa.

Leganes were falling apart with 15 minutes left to play as the hosts had no problems openings in their defensive third.

Griezmann did not finish the match to add more goals and was replaced by Kevin Gameiro in the last quarter.

Neither side could add to the scoreline in the latter stages of the encounter as Los Rojiblancos claimed another big win for the second successive game.

Atletico are now four points behind league leaders Barcelona, who they face on Sunday evening.

Although, the Catalan giants restore their seven-point cushion when they take on Las Palmas on Thursday night.
