Iran coach Carlos Queiroz says FIFA should't allow Lionel Messi to play football

Former Bafana Bafana head coach Carlos Queiroz says FIFA should not allow FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi from football until a thorough investigation proves where he is from.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has maintained his phenomenal form with the LaLiga leaders, leading them to the cusp of another historic treble.

With 30 goals and 16 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season, the Iran head coach, who will lead his side to the 2018 World Cup in Russia has joked that the Argentina international may not be human.

"I've always said that Messi is an extraordinary player," he told the FIFA official website about the 30-year-old who scored a last-minute winning goal against Team Melli in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. "He's out of this world.

"I don't usually like losing, but I didn't come away from that defeat with a negative feeling. It's when something magical like that happens that you know that football is alive and kicking, and that's why it's one of the best sports in the world to watch.

"And it's even more of a special moment when it comes from a player who shouldn't be allowed to play by FIFA until it's proven that he's actually human!"
