Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku poised for record-breaking partnership

Manchester United attacking duo Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku are poised to break a nine-year record with the Premier League club this season.

After combining for the opening goal in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, the exciting forward's equalled Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo's 2008/09 season record of creating six goals for each other.

Currently standing as the joint-best partnership in the league along with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, the Red Devils attackers have two months remaining of the 2017/18 season to set a new record for the English giants.

According to the Manchester Evening News, no two players have ever combined for seven goals in an English top-flight campaign.

However, the Belgian and French partnership could etch their name into the history books when United travel to Selhurst Park on Monday evening to face relegation-threatened Crystal Palace.
