Free State Stars mentor Luc Eymael says he is honoured to manage a player like Paulus Masehe and plans to reward the veteran with an assistant coaching job once he hangs up his boots.
Masehe, 34, on Saturday achieved a milestone by playing in his 300th game in the goalless stalemate with AmaZulu at Goble Park.
Although 'The horse' has never won an international cap in his 15-year career, he has a league medal which he won with Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2005/2006 season.
Eymael reckons Masehe has another year left in his legs and would then make a fine addition to his technical team.
"For me it's a great honour to coach a player like that," Eymael tells KickOff.com.
"I think he is very professional. If you speak to him he will tell you that he has come back to his best level now in matters of fitness and tactical level also, and it's fine to have a player like that in the team.
"He is a real leader, he is a real engine to the team and also you know he is a club man. I think he can play again for one year and after that he will retire for me and he will become assistant coach. It's a good thing to have a player like that in the team.
"I want to congratulate him. You know me, I brought him two gifts, flowers for his wife and a gift for him because for us it's a habit in Europe when you have a player like that who reaches so many games, we give him the gifts. He is a good guy, good mentality, always the first one at training."
Ea Lla Koto, in fifth place on the table, next visit relegation-threatened Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
