Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman's chances of making the France national team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is in serious doubt after suffering a season-ending injury.
Coman, 21, developed into an integral part of the Bundesliga leaders first-team this season, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
However, his impressive campaign has come to an abrupt ending after suffering rupturing a ligament in his ankle in the 0-0 draw with Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
With Les Bleus head coach Didier Deschamps having a plethora of attacking options ahead of the global showpiece, it's unlikely the former Juventus boss will risk calling up the mercurial talent for his final 23-man squad.
"French international Kingsley Coman suffered a rupture of the syndesmosis ligament above the left ankle during Saturday's 0-0 draw against Hertha Berlin," the revealed in a statement on their official website.
"This resulted in a follow-up on the following day. Already this Monday, Coman was in Tubingen, where Dr Ulrich Stockle operated successfully.
"The 21-year-old will be out for several weeks."
