Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach Lehlohonolo Seema has confirmed the club are keen to retain Lorenzo Gordinho when his loan spell from Kaizer Chiefs expires.

Gordinho switched sides in January on a one-year deal, although Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has indicated the 23-year-old could return to Naturena "at any time".

The defender reiterated his value with a man-of-the-match display against the Glamour Boys in Johannesburg on Saturday.

"Gordinho is still a youngster with a great future," Seema tells

"I was happy with his performance and it wasn't the first time he played so well for us. He deserved the man of the match.

"Yes, the team would like to make his stay permanent, but the management of the two clubs will talk. So ja, it's something we will have to look at at the end of the season."

Meanwhile, Seema felt Phunya Sele made a wise move in employing defensive football against Steve Komphela's title-chasing Chiefs outfit.

The teams produced a disappointing goalless draw at FNB Stadium, with Celtic managing two shots on target from seven attempts to Chiefs' five from 15 on Saturday.

"You can't play an open game against a team like Chiefs," Seema says.

"You have to box well and hope to get one or two goals via set-pieces.

"So we couldn't just go there with our eyes closed, we had to have a plan. So getting a single point in a game like that works very well with our plan to get into the top eight."

Siwelele are currently 13th on the table with 26 points from 21 games, and next host fellow strugglers Ajax Cape Town at Dr Molemela Stadium this Sunday.
