Pitso Mosimane believes Anthony Laffor has a lot to offer at Mamelodi Sundowns

Despite signing three new attacking players in the January transfer window, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he still has room for Anthony Laffor in the side.

Competition for places at Sundowns is even tougher right now, but Mosimane has always backed Laffor to deliver when things get tough, especially in the big matches.

The Liberian international, who is a four-time Absa Premiership winner, has made just nine appearances in all competitions this season due to the problems he has had with injuries.

He has been used as a substitute in all the matches he has played and it will be even harder to get into the starting line-up, with the likes of Gaston Sirino, Percy Tau, Themba Zwane and Sibusiso Vilakazi to fight with for positions in attack.

“He [Laffor] has been struggling with injury, so we have to wait. But even Khama [Billiat] has been struggling with injuries. [Thokozani] Sekotlong has been in and out. Anele [Ngcongca's] flow has not been good because of injuries,” Mosimane tells

Sundowns’ CAF Champions League campaign is set to get underway next week and Mosimane is hoping Laffor can make a return as soon as possible to help them reclaim the trophy they surrendered last year to Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca.

“When 'Snoti' [Laffor] comes back from injury he scores, you know him, especially the Champions League. He masters that tournament. He bails us out, so you can’t write him off. If he comes back and helps us, then it will be good,” Mosimane says.
