FC Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde hailed the unpredictability of star forward Lionel Messi after the 6-1 thrashing over Girona in their LaLiga fixture on Sunday.
Messi, 30, bagged two goals and an assist in the humbling of Blanquivermell at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening to maintain the Blaugrana's seven-point lead over second-place Atletico Madrid.
"Messi? It's hard to get used to the things he does. Just when you think you've seen everything from Messi, he surprises you, like his free kick, which looked easy but was very difficult to execute," Valverde told Movistar Partidazo after the game.
"He's a player who has and feels the responsibility towards the team, and he assumed it when we were faced with their early pressure."
The Argentina international has now scored 30 goals and registered 16 assists in 39 games this season.
