Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Hendrick Ekstein says he admires Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau and feels he should win the PSL Footballer of the Season award.
Tau, who has nine league goals and as many assists, helped Sundowns secure a 1-1 draw against Tshwane rivals SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night, when he struck in the final 15 minutes of the game.
He has been Sundowns’ best player this season and many, including Amakhosi midfielder Ekstein, feel he is a frontrunner to win the PSL's top individual playing prize.
"To be honest with you, I admire Percy. We speak a lot," Ekstein reveals.
"He tells me what to do and what not to do and as a player I enjoy watching him," he adds.
"For me I would say he is the player of the season."
Ekstein has also welcomed the addition of new signings Siphelele Ntshangase and Leonardo Castro and believes they have helped turn the fortunes of the team around.
Ntshangase, in particular, is a player Ekstein is competing with for a place in the side.
"He [Ntshangase] brought changes and we are happy for all the players we got. Without them, I don't think we would have been where we are. They helped us a lot and I'm happy that we are playing well as a team."
Chiefs missed out on a chance to close the gap at the top of the table when they were held to a goalless draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at FNB Stadium.
