Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic feels some of the criticism directed at the Serie A giants has been unwarranted after the 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League last-16.
Spurs clinched two away goals in the first leg at the Juventus Stadium after Juve striker Gonzalo Higuain initially gave the home side an early 2-0 lead.
And Italian media blasted the Bianconeri for their display, insinuating Massimiliano Allegri's side underperformed against the Premier League outfit.
"Criticism too heavy? Yes, it was excessive because we were facing Tottenham, who are a great team from the midfield up," he told Premium Sport. "They suffered at the back, but they're still a quality team, so maybe those who criticised us didn’t know Tottenham.
"After we went 2-0 up, we had to manage the game better, but [the tie] isn’t over, we believe in ourselves and obviously we want to go through."
The second-leg at Wembley Stadium will take place on 7 March.
