Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic played to a disappointing 0-0 draw in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The Amakhosi made a promising start, where Leonardo Castro took an early shot which Patrick Tignyemb managed to palm away.
Wiseman Meyiwa lined up to strike a free-kick after a foul near the edge of the box but he failed to test Patrick Tignyemb as he fired straight into the wall.
In the 29th minute, Siyabonga Ngezana looked to break the deadlock from a corner, but he couldn’t direct his header to the intended target.
A minute later, Castro tried to score in outrageous fashion after attempting an overhead volley which ballooned over the top.
The away outfit registered their first shot on goal three minutes later after Jacky Motshegwa marched forward before tamely firing directly at Itumeleng Khune.
The hosts continued their high-pressured game and Castro found himself in the box once more but persisted with his wayward efforts.
Veselin Jelusic brought on Kabelo Dlamini at the start of the second half for Motshegwa, and the youngster wasted no time settling in with a rather speculative shot from range.
Long-range efforts from both sides came in the opening spell, but they were straight at the goalkeepers, despite the best efforts of Meyiwa and Deon Hotto.
Tignyemb pulled off a stunning reflex save to prevent Ryan Moon from continuing his scoring streak, while Daniel Cardoso saw his header from a corner crash against the upright.
Despite the introductions of Siphelele Ntshangase and Siphiwe Tshabalala, the Glamour Boys were unable to find the breakthrough and had to settle for a draw.
