Former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has warned the LaLiga giants against selling club-record signing Gareth Bale in the off-season.
Bale, 28, has fallen down the pecking order at Real over the last month due to a lack of form, as well as frustrations of his injury record since his £85.3m (R1,37b) arrival from Tottenham in 2013.
According to reports in British media, the Spanish giants are open to negotiations for the Wales international's departure at the end of the season, but his former teammate has advised Los Blancos to rethink their stance on Bale's potential exit.
"I don't think [Bale] has run out of credit or that he's in a bad moment," he told reporters, as quoted via Marca. "If I were [Zinedine] Zidane I would wrap him in cotton wool.
"I would want to have everyone at the top of their game and with Gareth, I would treat him with all the care in the world. He has always had problems that have not allowed him to have continuity."
Bale has scored nine goals and registered six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season.
