Baroka FC stand-in coach MacDonald Makhubedu says Polokwane City always rise to the occasion and he expects the same in today's Limpopo derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
City are fighting for survival in the league but have twice beaten log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and also claimed the scalp of title contenders Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout, albeit on penalties.
And with this derby failing to produce a winner on the last three occasions, Makhubedu insists mid-tabled Bakgaga expect a battle at 15h30.
"With what they [Polokwane] have, they can kill you at any given time. They rise to the occasion every time, especially on the big occasion," said Makhubedu, who was recently handed the reins at Baroka after Kgoloko Thobejane was suspended amid allegations of drinking on the job.
"Maybe they undermine other teams, they play well against Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Sundowns. They are a team for the big occasion and this is also big. So we won't underestimate them. We just have to prepare well."
The former Acornbush United mentor admitted he misses working with "the face of Baroka", Thobejane.
"Everybody loves him so everyone misses him, including supporters and the media. He is a lovely person. We miss him. You can see he is the face of Baroka and you can't take that away. You can notice he is not here," he concluded.
