Daniels, Gould ready for Brockie

SuperSport United defenders Clayton Daniels and Morgan Gould have prepared themselves for a battle against former team-mate Jeremy Brockie.

Both players are used to having played against Brockie in training, but they now have to try stop the Mamelodi Sundowns striker when they meet in the Tshwane derby today (18h00).

Brockie is yet to find the back of the net for his new club and would love to break his scoring duck against his ex-employers. He had a few opportunities against Free State Stars on Wednesday and will be hoping to be more clinical this time around.

Daniels says they have to keep an eye on Brockie’s runs at the far post, where he likes popping up.

“We know Brockie, knocking at the second post waiting for an opportunity. We can expect that,” Daniels told KickOff.com this week.

“He is a good player and we always have to keep an eye on him. He can punish you if you let him slip [in]. You must be switched on because Sundowns are full of goals. It will be good to play against him, not [just like it was] at training.”

Gould, though, is not only concerned about monitoring Brockie when the likes of Percy Tau, Khama Billiat and Themba Zwane also pose a threat for the Brazilians.

“Before we look at Jeremy, Sundowns as a whole are just quality, they are bursting with quality. So whatever they do, we need to try and match them,” Gould said.

“Brockie is a good player, a very humble guy and very lethal."
