SuperSport United defender Clayton Daniels urges teammates to have a full go at Mamelodi Sundowns

SuperSport United's Clayton Daniels says hardly anyone is giving them a chance to win the Tshwane derby against Mamelodi Sundowns, which makes Matsatsantsa even more dangerous.

SuperSport started the campaign as one of the favourites to win the title after claiming the MTN8, but it’s been a season to forget for the side since then and they are now just hoping they can do enough in the final nine matches to finish in the top eight.

They are currently in 10th place and a victory would take them into the top half of the table, depending on results in other matches.

They face a Sundowns side that has dominated the Tshwane derby, but Daniels is hoping they can get the victory they need to turn their season around. Their meeting is set for 18h00 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

“It’s a game where we can really have a go. We know who is the better team, so we must go out there without fearing them because we have the ability to win,” the Bafana Bafana centre-back tells KickOff.com.

“No one expects us to win and that makes us even more dangerous. It can go both ways and in my opinion it can turn our season around, in terms of confidence and where we are on the table. We can have a good go at this game. It’s a derby and we are looking forward to it.”

Matsatsantsa want to finish in the top eight so that they can have a chance to defend their MTN8 title next season.

“It’s a priority. We want to be in top eight to retain the top eight cup. We want to finish as high as possible on the table,” the former Sundowns defender says.

Daniels will have a long night trying to contain the likes of Percy Tau, Khama Billiat and former teammate Jeremy Brockie.
