Desiree Ellis gets Banyana Banyana job

Desiree Ellis has been named head coach of Banyana Banyana on a permanent basis.

She had been guiding the women's national team as an interim coach for the past 17 months following the departure of Vera Pauw.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan annnounced Ellis's appointment at a press conference this morning.

He said Ellis, a former Banyana star, has been tasked with steering the side to the African Nations Cup, the World Cup and the Olympics.

Ellis's Banyana were named the 2017 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year after winning the COSAFA Women’s Championship in Zimbabwe in September for a record fourth time.
