Monare: Wits going for CAF gold

Bidvest Wits midfielder Thabang Monare insists the Students are not merely looking to add numbers in the African Champions League.
The Absa Premiership champions are yet to secure their safety in the South African topflight with a third of the season to go, but Monare maintains this will not dampen their continental ambitions.
"We must challenge for everything. As the coach [Gavin Hunt] says we need games to keep playing, so if we advance to the group stages we have a chance of playing more games and improving," Monare tells KickOff.com.
"Our target is to win this thing. We need to get as far as we can in this competition. Hopefully we can maintain... but I think the coach will manage us well."
Monare is confident his teammates will successfully defend their 2-0 lead against Mauritian side Pamplemousses in the CAF competition this afternoon.
He will not feature in the match as he is still nursing a quadriceps injury he sustained in the 2-1 league win at Golden Arrows on the weekend.
"I got injured in the first half of the Arrows game, quad," Monare says.
"In the first leg we beat them 2-0 so I think we will defend our lead. I think the guys will carry on where we left off. And another thing as you know, when a team is playing at home there's that motivation. But I believe the guys are going to do well, though it won't be easy.
"Well looking at the Champions League and the home advantage that they have, you'll never know what may happen looking at the support they might get from their fans. So we just have to absorb the pressure because definitely they are going to come at us from the word go for them to equal our two-goal lead if not more," concludes the Secunda-born player.
