Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tiyani Mabunda believes his team is "destined for greatness".
Sundowns currently enjoy a four-point lead at the Absa Premiership summit with 10 games left, as they go in search of an eighth league title in the PSL era.
The 2016 kings of Africa, who face minnows EC Bees in the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup, are also determined to conquer the continent again and better their early exit at the FIFA Club World Cup last time out.
Pitso Mosimane's men will get their CAF Champions League campaign underway in the first round next month, taking on either LLB Académic FC from Burundi or Rayon Sport of Rwanda in their group stage qualifier.
Mabunda laid clear his ambitions on receiving the Goal of the Month prize for December on Monday. His winning strike came from range in a 4-1 thumping of Bloemfontein Celtic.
“I want to help the team win more trophies,” Mabunda is quoted as saying on his club's website.
“I want to help the team win the Champions League for a second time. I want to help the team go back to the FIFA Club World Cup and do well, hopefully win the Club World Cup as well. I believe that all things are possible for the ones who believe. That’s what the bible tells me."
He continued: “I believe that if we as a team believe that we can do it, then I know that we can do it – go back to the Club World Cup and do better than we did in the past. I know that we are destined for greatness as a team.
"There is so much positive energy and hunger to succeed at Mamelodi Sundowns, even the new players already see that it’s not the same like it was where they were in the past. They can see that there is a winning mentality within the team.
"Every game that we play, we play to win. We might not win all the games but the desire to be successful is massive in this team.”
Downs tonight host league title rivals Free State Stars at Loftus Versfeld (19h30).
