Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could face a lengthy ban after alleged FA Cup scuffle

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could be set for a lengthy ban from the English Football Association for his alleged altercation with a fan after their 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

The Citizens hopes of the quadruple came to a dramatic end as the League One side shocked the Premier League leaders in the fifth-round of the FA Cup on Monday evening.

However, after the historic victory at the DW Stadium, scenes of fans invading the pitch upon the full-time whistle marred the occasion, as fans clashed, advertising boards were thrown at police and Aguero reportedly punched a fan.

Video footage of the aftermath is likely to be assessed by the FA before handing out a punishment for the in-form Argentina international.

City head coach Pep Guardiola claimed he didn't witness the incident but condemned the behaviour of both sets of supporters.

"I was in the locker room, I didn't see it. It's safer when the fans are not there, but sometimes it happens," he said after the game, as quoted via Sky Sports.
