Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic refused to take all the credit for his Absa Premiership Coach of the Month award, and says it comes as motivation to the team.
Sredojevic was honoured with the monthly award at the PSL headquarters on Monday, alongside Maritzburg United’s Siphesihle Ndlovu and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Tiyani Mabunda, who picked up the player and goal of the month prizes respectively.
The Buccaneers won three of their five matches in the month of January, beating the likes of Baroka, Sundowns and Platinum Stars to place themselves amongst the title challengers.
“When you see me here, I would like you to see my dear colleagues Rhulani Mokwena and other members of the technical team that have done a great job, and I represent them,” said Sredojevic in his acceptance speech.
“It has been team work, together with the players, supporters, management and other structures in the club, and I want to give credit to all of them for contributing to this award.
“This serves as a motivation for the times ahead of us, and it’s good because it generates positive energy for the matches to come.
“Hard work and sleepless nights have paid off but we are not getting carried away by that. Instead we are looking forward to the final three months of the season, where everything will be decided.”
Pirates – currently in third position, five points adrift of the Brazilians with nine games to go – next visit Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for a league meeting on Sunday afternoon at 15h30.
