Keagan Dolly relishing Lebogang Phiri showdown

Posted: 17 February 2018 Time: 11:03

South African duo Keagan Dolly and Lebogang Phiri will put their friendship aside for 90 minutes when they come up against each other in a Ligue 1 clash this evening.

Montpellier are set to host Guingamp at the Stade de la Mosson tonight (21h00), potentially setting up a meeting between countrymen Dolly and Phiri.

The last time the two sides met this season, neither Dolly nor Phiri featured, but with both having enjoyed a resurgance of late – starting their respective sides' last two league matches – it suggests they could well play a part this time around.

Dolly is relishing yet another ecnounter with a fellow Bafana Bafana international, having already come up against Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu last month.

"It’s always great coming up against my fellow South Africans and friends, we've built good relationships with one another in terms of supporting each other, even if it’s via calls or texts," Dolly tells

"I think with us doing well, it opens doors for other players in South Africa who want to one day seem themselves playing in Europe.

"I’m excited to see Lebo tomorrow, and for the match. Hopefully we get the three points and continue our good form in the league."

Good seeing my bro @bonganizungu ????????????????

Montpellier are currently in sixth position, with 37 points from 25 matches, while Guimgamp are slightly further down in 10th place, but only four points behind.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has made valiant strides since the turn of the year, managing two assists in three starts, but admits he is capable of much more.

"I’m feeling confident but I do believe I can still do more. I think two assists is not enough, especially in the position I play," he adds.

"It’s been a good start to the new year and I’m feeling positive. Hopefully things continue the way the are going, and I get more assists and goals before the season ends."
