National First Division side Uthongathi FC have signed Sibusiso Hadebe after the player trained with the club for almost a month.

The 30-year-old was on the books of Stellenbosch FC last season, forming part of the side which qualified for the play-offs, though they were unable to win promotion.

He could make his debut against Royal Eagles at Harry Gwala Stadium today.

“He [Hadebe] has been training with us for three weeks and has played some friendly matches because we noticed that he hasn’t been playing, but there’s something promising," says club director Nkosinathi Chili.

“The coach wanted a striker, but we didn’t get one and we feel in that department we are fairly okay. As management we have to ensure we support the coach on players he wants to reinforce the team with until the end of the season.”

Having played for Jomo Cosmos, Thanda Royal Zulu, AmaZulu twice, Golden Arrows and Platinum Stars twice, Hadebe’s experience will come in handy for Uthongathi.

The club, meanwhile, have parted ways with left-back Fiso Nyathikazi.
