Bidvest Wits striker Amr Gamal has turned down an offer to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki and will remain with the Students until the end of the season.
The transfer window in Finland opened on January 17 and will close on April 10.
Helsinki made a bid for Gamal, who is on loan at Wits from Al Ahly.
The Egyptian made a promising start to the campaign with the Clever Boys, but has fallen out of favour with coach Gavin Hunt, who prefers to use the likes of James Keene and Lehlohonolo Majoro.
Gamal has also been linked with a move to both Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United next season.
Gamal's agent Mohamed Habashy has confirmed that his client is staying put.
“There was an offer from the champions of the league in Finland. However, it has been turned down,” Habashy tells KickOff.com from Alexandria.
Habashy says Gamal will be returning to Al Ahly next term.
“He is returning to Al Ahly after his loan deal with Wits. There was interest from two teams in South Africa during the past transfer window period. We will look at new offers at the end of the season,” he adds.
