Ajax Cape Town's Muhsin Ertugral backs Yagan Sasman as Ajax Amsterdam keep tabs

Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral has high expectations for defender Yagan Sasman, who is being monitored by Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.

The 21-year-old left-footer saw sporadic game-time at the club after coming through the development ranks - prior to Ertugral replacing Stanley Menzo in the hotseat in December.

Ertugral was immediately impressed with Sasman and made space for him in the team at left-back by shifting Mosa Lebusa to central defence prior to the Urban Warriors skipper suffering a hamstring injury.

The Turk sees a bright future for Sasman, who has played nine times this season for the relegation-threatened outfit.

"I think he must be the 69th or 70th young player I have groomed in South Africa," said the former Kaizer Chiefs, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates boss.

"Immediately after the first training [session] I spoke to the chairman [Ari Efstathiou] and said the boy deserves to be given a chance.

"Imagine the boy in six months or one year what kind of a player he would be. He is very calm and organised. He knows what he is doing.

"I think he cannot grow on the stands but only on the field and that's what we are doing with him at the moment.

"I am convinced that he will go far. I understand Ajax Amsterdam are also monitoring his performance."

Four years ago Sasman and ex-Ajax teammate Rivaldo Coetzee trained for two weeks with Ajax Amsterdam in Holland.
