Kaizer Chiefs are sweating over the availability of midfield enforcer Willard Katsande ahead of this weekend's clash against Cape Town City.
Chiefs host The Citizens in an Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 20h15.
Amakhosi are currently in fourth position on the log – ahead of fifth-placed City on goal difference – with a win potentially taking them to within four points of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, the fitness of a number of players are of concern for coach Steve Komphela, with Katsande nursing a facial fracture, while Dumisani Zuma is definitely set to miss this weekend's encounter through a groin injury.
“Katsande has fractured a bone in his face. He was taken to hospital for surgery, and will be under observation this week,” team physio David Milner told the club's website.
“We will see how he responds to treatment during the week and take it from there.
“Dumsani Zuma is recovering well from a groin strain, but will be out for this weekend’s match against Cape Town City."
Meanwhile, attackers George Maluleka and Gustavo Paez's progress is also set to be monitored throughout the week.
“We hope to have Maluleka and Páez in full training this week. Maluleka has a calf strain and Páez has a hamstring problem,” added Milner.
