Real Madrid defender Marcelo claims forward Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at European Champions

Real Madrid defender Marcelo says the clubs' attacking talisman Cristiano Ronaldo would not be at the club if he wasn't completely happy at the European Champions.

With rumours of Real plotting moves for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar and Tottenham striker Harry Kane, the long-term future of the club's record goalscorer has come into question.

But Marcelo has played down any suggestions that 33-year-old is set to end his nine-year stay with Los Blancos, that's yielded two La Liga titles, three Champions League triumphs while netting a staggering 429 goals in 422 games.

"I don't think there is any truth to that, as if he was unhappy then he wouldn't be here," Marcelo told Esporte Interativo. "He does everything to help the team. He's a mature guy, who has a very strong squad around him at Real Madrid.

"I don't think he's unhappy. The world knows what he is capable of doing, just look at his history with the club. I don't think he can be dissatisfied."

Ronaldo scored a hattrick in Real's 5-2 victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday to take his season's tally to 23 goals in 28 games across all competitions.
