Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini says Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola diluted defensive football

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini says Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is to blame for the current plight of Italian football.
Italy are currently at one of their lowest points as a football nation after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which saw the robust defender announce his retirement from international football.
And he's made a startling claim by stating the Spaniard's tactical influence on modern football has diluted the defensive style of play which the Azzurri were famed on.
"He is a fantastic coach with a fantastic mind but Italian trainers have tried to copy him without the same knowledge and then in the last 10 years, we lost our identity," the veteran defender told the Daily Mail.
"We lost our identity of [Paolo] Maldini, [Franco] Baresi, [Fabio] Cannavaro, [Alessandro] Nesta, [Giuseppe] Bergomi, [Claudio] Gentile, [Gaetano] Scirea... between 1984 and 1995, we have only [Leonardo] Bonucci.
"In 10 years, we didn't launch one good defender."
