Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes the Reds level of performance is at a higher level when current captain Jordan Henderson is in the starting XI.
Henderson has come under severe criticism from his own fans on social media over the past 12 months for his apparent lack of attacking instinct and unwillingness to play 'positive' football.
But Gerrard who featured 710 times for the Merseysiders over 17 seasons believes the 27-year-old brings qualities to the pitch that helps Jurgen Klopp's side become a 'better team'.
"The armband comes with big pressure and big responsibility, so Jordan probably gets judged differently to every other player - I did when I played," Gerrard told the club's website.
"I think we're a better team with him in the XI. I think he brings an awful lot to the game that I appreciate as a midfielder. It's one of these things -- from game to game, people change their opinions.
"It's just part and parcel of being a player in this day and age with the social media and the attention on every single position. Players just have to accept it."
