Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed the club are in the process of securing the long-term futures of midfielders Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.
Wilshere, 26, has less than six months left on his current deal and has reportedly been in conversation with Liverpool over a potential pre-contract.
However, the academy graduate who gradually worked his way back into the plans of Wenger this season with 24 appearances across all competitions, is said to be in favour of remaining at the Emirates with a £90k a week deal on offer.
"We try to make progress, as I told you that many times for Ozil," Wenger told reporters. "But you never believed me. I'm positive because I want him to stay, I do the maximum I can to make him happy.
"Aaron is a little bit different because he is less time-constraints than with Jack, with Jack it is now. With Aaron, if we lose two weeks or three weeks, it doesn't matter much. I want him to stay as well."
