New Barcelona signing Philippe Coutinho admitted he was thrilled to have opened his account for the club following Thursday's Copa del Rey semi-final win over Valencia.

The Brazilian joined the Catalan giants from Liverpool for €160million (R2.3 billion) and came off the bench this week to open the scoring at the Mestalla as Barca eventually recorded a 2-0 win on the night and 3-0 aggregate success.

And, speaking after the semi-final second leg, Coutinho told GOL: "It's a very happy day. "I was looking for the goal in the first few games and today I got it and, most importantly, helped the team reach the final.

"It's a special moment. It'll be a great game and a difficult one [against Sevilla]. We have time to prepare ourselves.

"It's my first final and it's a special and important moment for me, but there are a lot of moments to play before the final."
