Pitso backs Tau for Europe's elite

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes Percy Tau can secure a move to one of Europe’s big five leagues if he inspires the club to CAF Champions League success.
Tau is having the season of his life and is without a doubt a candidate to win the PSL Footballer of the Season award, with seven goals and nine assists in 20 league matches. One of the assists was the spectacularly looped ball for Khama Billiat to brilliantly volley home in the 1-0 victory over Cape Town City on Friday night.
Recently Tau has been linked with clubs in Russia and Denmark and there’s likely to be more teams around Europe asking about him if he continues to perform well for both club and country.
“It [the assist] was unbelievable and we can’t claim that we coach that individual brilliance. He’s fearless and he plays with no restrictions. At the moment he is leading Bafana Bafana and he is the leading striker in the country,” Mosimane said.
“The quality says he is ready [for Europe]. The mentality and ability says he is ready. But I am a conservative coach. I also want to polish, it must shine. Either black or white, not grey. I think the best place for Percy is to go to the top five leagues in Europe. What will make him go to the best five leagues in Europe? To be a leading player for Bafana, to win the Champions League for us, to win the league and to win the Nedbank Cup. That’s the passport for him to go to big leagues.
“At this point in time he can go to any league in Europe. There’s so many he can go to. You’ve got your Sweden, Belgium, Greece, Denmark. Those countries are still in Europe, but my opinion is the best five in Europe. Let's have a player there, let’s have a player in the [Uefa] Champions League. Let’s have the right product, so that we can be proud of it.”
It’s only a matter of time before Tau joins former Downs players Bongani Zungu and Keagan Dolly in Europe.
