Former Arsenal midfielders Alex Song and Samir Nasri are reportedly in discussion with Serie A minnows Benevento as they seek to avoid relegation from Serie A.
Song and Nasri, both 30-years-old, starred together at the Emirates Stadium for three seasons before lucrative moves to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively but are both currently free agents.
After securing former Tottenham midfielder Sandro on a season-long loan and another former Gunner, Bacary Sagna, the Italian side are confident of landing their top transfer targets.
Currently rock bottom of the table and 13 points from safety, Roberto De Zerbi's side are in dire need of reinforcements as they seek to benefit from the improved TV rights deal in the Italian top-flight next season.
The top-flight debutants made history this season by taking 15 games to register their first point when goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli scored a 95th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw with AC Milan.
