Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has opened up about the recent speculation linking him with a move away from the club, and insists he is fully focused on his job.
Hlatshwayo was the subject of mass speculation during the recent transfer window, with Orlando Pirates believed to be after the defender’s signature.
However, the Bafana Bafana skipper has denied being approached by any team, and says his mind has always been on trying to help Wits.
“My head has been right. I’ve been okay, making sure that I do well for the team. It’s just my toe that I had a problem with from Bafana Bafana,” said Hlatshwayo.
“I’ve also been seeing the speculation, but from me – to be honest – no one has contacted me. It’s just news that I’ve been seeing in the newspapers.
“Personally, no one at all has spoken to me. I don’t know if they did approach Wits, but even the club haven’t told me anything.”
‘Tyson’ says his previous experience as well as some of his teammates have helped him cope with the constant rumours, and reiterates his commitment to the Clever Boys.
“The senior players in the team have been through that, and I’ve also been through it before I joined Wits. There was speculation that I would be going to a bigger team,” he added.
“But even then I knew what I wanted, so it doesn’t affect me now. I just make sure I keep focused on my team, because we did well last season and the core is still here.
“It’s a funny game, finding ourselves where we are after what we achieved last season. So it’s important that I keep focused, wherever I’m being played, to give 100 percent.”
