Barcelona midfielder Phillipe Coutinho thrilled playing with Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta

Posted: 7 February 2018 Time: 09:05

Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho has described his new teammates Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi as his idols, while hailing one as a 'genius'.

Coutinho joined the La Liga leaders in the January transfer window for a reported £108million from English Premier League side Liverpool as the club's record signing.

A hamstring injury delayed his immediate introduction to the Blaugrana starting XI but after a couple of cameo substitute appearances, the Brazil international has started the last two league games in a right-wing role under manager Ernesto Valverde.

With the former Internazionale midfielder more familiar with his new surroundings, the 25-year-old has hailed club captain Iniesta, who continues to perform at a world-class level at the age of 33.

"Andres is a genius, and anyone who plays with him he will make them better," Coutinho told 8TV.

"I am enjoying my time together with him and also with Leo [Messi], for me they are idols."
