David Beckham tips Cristiano Ronaldo to fire Real Madrid to Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain

Posted: 6 February 2018 Time: 12:30

Former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be an influential figure in the sides' last-16 UEFA Champions League tie.

Los Blancos head coach Zinedine Zidane is currently under intense pressure as Madrid trail league La Liga leaders Barcelona by 19 points while their Copa del Rey exit to Leganes compounded further misery on the Spanish giants.

Ronaldo in particular has shouldered most of the criticism, with the European champions attacking talisman only netting eight league goals this season, but Beckham believes the Champions League is the perfect platform for Los Merengues to silence their critics.

"It is going to be difficult with PSG on top form at the moment," Beckham told Marca. "This is the moment for Los Blancos as they love this competition. Look at the players that they have like Cristiano.

"It is in these moments that the top players come to the fore and the game is going to be incredible to watch."

Real take on PSG at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for the first-leg fixture on the 14th of February.
