Luc Eymael: Don't compare Maxime Cosse with Gustavo Paez and Jeremy Brockie

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says his new signing Maxime Cosse needs time to adapt to the pace of South African football before people can see his true talent.

The 25-year-old Belgian winger, who is also capable of playing as a striker, produced some deft touches in his first Absa Premiership match on Saturday when Ea Lla Koto beat Baroka 2-0 in Bethlehem.

"Well I think he played 25 minutes, it is his job, he has to acclimatise to the speed of the game and the speed of the PSL," Eymael told KickOff.com when asked what he made of Cosse's debut.

"He had good things and some things where he has to improve and acclimatise to his teammates. But I'm sure he will add something to the team for the future."

Cosse seemed like the real deal as he switched flanks with ease against Bakgaga. But to take away the pressure from his new find, Eymael says he wouldn't like to compare Cosse with some PSL imports like Kaizer Chiefs' Gustavo Paez and Mamelodi Sundowns' Jeremy Brockie, who took the league by storm on their arrival.

"Yes, he can play with both feet left and right, he can play in both wings, he can play behind the striker.

"But no, Cosse is Cosse, Brockie is Brockie and Paez is Paez. It's like when you want to compare Messi or Ronaldo, people always want to do that. Ronaldo is Ronaldo, Messi is Messi, Thierry Henry is Thierry Henry... he is only Maxime Cosse.

"So, we'll only have to see how he adapts to the PSL, what he can bring to the team. He just has now to work hard and not look to other players like Brockie or Paez. No, no, to me he is not the same player at all. We will see what he can do."

Stars next host NFD strugglers Super Eagles in the last-32 of the Nedbank Cup at Goble Park this Saturday (20h15).
