Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes is pleased with the impact James Rodriguez has made since his arrival from Real Madrid

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has described playmaker James Rodriguez as 'godsend' after impressing during his stay at the Allianz Arena since making the loan switch from Real Madrid.

Rodriguez, 26, made the temporary move to Die Roten after falling out of favour at Los Blancos due to the emergence of Isco in the number 10 role. But with four goals and six assists in 12 league starts Heynckes has been pleased with the efforts of the talented Colombia international midfielder.

His latest strike came in the 2-0 victory over Mainz at the Opel Arena on Saturday, to extend Die Roten's lead to 18 points at the summit of the Bundesliga table.

"It was well known that James was no longer satisfied in Madrid," the veteran coach told reporters at his pre-match news conference ahead of Tuesday's DFB-Pokal clash with Paderborn.

"He didn't get the time that such a player deserves, and then it is logical to get the player in. James is an instant hit. How he acts and integrates, how he laughs again and is relaxed... He has arrived and is happy in Munich.

"In his current form, obviously James is a godsend for Bayern."
