SuperSport United's Michael Morton toys with AmaZulu stay

Posted: 5 February 2018 Time: 17:30

Michael Morton is open to staying at AmaZulu when his loan spell from SuperSport United expires at the end of the season.

The hard-working midfielder has impressed for Usuthu since reuniting with former coach Cavin Johnson at the Premiership returnees in the off-season.

Morton left SuperSport in search of game-time amid fierce competition in Tshwane from the likes of experienced campaigners Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Dean Furman, as well as emerging talent Teboho Mokoena.

The 28-year-old has made 16 league appearances in 2017/18, scoring once for the Durban-based outfit.

"It is evident that I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. It's just nice to be playing regularly," says Morton.

"AmaZulu have provided me that opportunity. I'm extremely happy and my family is happy in Durban. The club has given me an amazing opportunity so I can't be more grateful and I'm extremely happy.

"Of course I don't know what the future holds but I'm more than happy to spend more time here at this club. I also want to take this club further, enjoy my football, plus score goals.

"So being here things are turning around a little bit. I'm loving my football, loving the AmaZulu brand and I'd love to play more football for them, for sure."

Morton is suspended for Wednesday's Nedbank Cup last-32 tie with Mthatha Bucks after receiving his second red card of the season in Usuthu's come-from-behind 2-1 derby win over Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium this past weekend.
