Golden Arrows maintained top spot after playing out a six-goal thriller with Ajax Cape Town in the weekend's MultiChoice Diski Challenge action.
Ajax Cape Town 3-3 Golden Arrows
Golden Arrows remained at the top of the standings despite being held to a pulsating 3-3 draw by Ajax Cape Town on Saturday.
Lassina Traore opened the scoring for the Urban Warriors in the ninth minute and Masilake Phohlongo doubled the lead in the 36th minute but Seth Parusnath pulled a goal back for Abafana Bes’thende on the stroke of halftime.
Nduduzo Sibiya made it 2-2 on the hour mark. Nkhosikhona Dube thought he had scored the winner 12 minutes from time but was denied by Toriq Losper who snatched the equaliser in the last minute.
Abafana Bes’thende currently have 29 points from 13 games atop the standings while the Urban Warriors slipped to fourth with 24 points from 13 games.
Orlando Pirates 2-0 Polokwane City
Orlando Pirates reserves, like their senior side, parachuted into second on the log after beating 10-man Polokwane City 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Rand Stadium.
Grant Peters netted a brace for the Buccaneers against a City side who were reduced to 10 men in the first half.
Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 Free State Stars
Kaizer Chiefs moved into the top eight spots for the first time this season after edging Free State Stars 3-2 on Saturday.
Itumeleng Shopane scored in the last minute to snatch the winner for Amakhosi after Yusuf Bunting and Tristan Moses has been on target.
Moeketsi Makhanya and Tared Abrahams were on the score-sheet for Ea Lla Koto.
Arthur Zwane’s charges have now amassed 19 points from 13 matches.
