AS Roma rejected deal for Manchester United's Dailey Blind

Posted: 4 February 2018 Time: 12:15

AS Roma sporting director Monchi has revealed the club rejected the chance to sign Daley Blind from Manchester United during the January transfer window.

The Dutch defender has fallen way down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has managed just three appearances this season, leading to claims he was destined to depart the club at the turn of the year.

Roma were tipped with an interest in the 27-year-old although the Serie A club have said they passed on the opportunity to snap up the Netherlands international.

"We started to hear something about Emerson before the transfer window opened. Blind was one of many names, he was offered and we evaluated him," Monchi said.

"We concluded he wasn't a player suited to us, not least for financial reasons."
