Orlando Pirates' reserve team goalkeeper Tsebo Tsotetsi says their remaining three games are like cup finals as they seek to reel in log leaders Golden Arrows.
Pirates are seven points off the MultiChoice Diski Challenge summit as they prepare to face Polokwane City at the Rand Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Bucs enter the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Free State Stars, while the 10th-placed visitors lost 2-0 to Kaizer Chiefs last time out.
Arrows can claim MDC honours if they beat Ajax Cape Town in a top-of-the-table showdown on Saturday.
“This is an important game for us and we cannot afford to drop points,” Tsotetsi told his club's website.
“Whoever plays in goal this weekend will need to be strong in marshalling the box and keeping the defence tidy because if we keep a clean sheet, then there’s no way that we can lose. Defensively, we have to do our job so that we give the strikers the freedom to do theirs.
“It’s true that these last games are like cup finals because anything can happen, especially now as we approach the end of the season. The pressure is on all of us to make sure that we are up for the challenge and that we capitalise on any slips above us.
“We have to win all our games and not worry about anyone else, except maybe Arrows, since they are setting the pace. They can still drop points this weekend and if we win, then the energy going into our game with them will be even greater. This is what we love about football.”
